Albums of my life: 1993

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHAHA!

The year is 1993 and I was still in Volksschule (elementary school). My main musical influences were Queen, David Hasselhoff, EAV and Jazz Gitti. Other than that, 1993 was a bit dire when it comes to albums that are very important to me, but let's see.

Honourable mentions

Carcass - Heartwork is of course an incredible album and without a doubt my favourite Carcass album. It didn't reach an "very important to me" status yet, though.

3. Tom Waits - The Black Rider

Tom Waits was probalby the most important artist for me during my Uni years. The Black Rider is on of Mr. Waits' plays, an operetta. It is not my favourite Waits album, but Russian Dance is among my favourite songs.

"Come on along with the Black Rider We'll have a gay old time."

I'll gladly come along, Mr. Waits.

2. Motörhead - Bastards

Banger after banger after banger after banger. And a ballad I can barely listen to because it's such a heavy topic. I Am the Sword became one of my most listened songs. And of course we were all Born to Raise Hell.

1. Die Ärzte - Die Bestie in Menschengestalt

Album cover of Die Ärzte - Die Bestie in Menschengestalt

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHAHA! Die Ärzte are back!

I think Schrei nach Liebe might be their most iconic song and is unfortunately as relevant as ever. It certainly was a hymn for the young kids back then. And we enjoyed shouting "ARSCHLOCH" at the top of our lungs.

Next to all the classics (Quark, Friedenspanzer, Deutschrockgirl) my favourite song was Kopfüber in die Hölle.

Sometimes you can't take Die Ärzte serious, yet you have to take them very serious.
